Lead Test Systems Engineer

Summary of Position: This position reports to the manager of Engine Test Services team. The primary focus will be to coordinate all software and hardware support of the 17 dynamometer test cells including the emissions sampling equipment at the Fond du Lac Product Development & Engineering facility. This role will require extensive software programming, migration planning and budgeting, customer support, regulatory compliance, software revision control, and to lead a team of 5-6 technicians and engineers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of technicians and engineers in supporting dyno systems

  • Software maintenance and support of the AVL PUMA test system

  • Including UUT, TST, SYS file maintenance

  • Work with dyno operators to maintain NormName database and make necessary changes to setup files to support these changes

  • Emissions bench scripting and support

  • Work with the regulatory teams to ensure RCD, EPA, ISO compliance

  • Provide long term capital planning in effort to keep up with technological advances

  • Perform duties & responsibilities per Mercury Marine's Safety & Regulatory standards

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (BSME, BSEE, Physics, Computer Science) or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with AVL or similar dynamometer test systems

  • Excellent organization skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Flexible to ever changing priorities and environments

  • Comfortable in multi-tasking situations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive scripting and programming experience

  • Familiarity with AVL PUMA test systems

  • Experience with engine test and development systems

  • Understands theory of instrumentation and measurement

  • Familiarity with CAN bus communication

Familiarity with Microsoft Access, SQL, Oracle or similar database applications
