Position Summary :

The Marketing Project Manager – Customer Engagement & Communications provides overall project management for key Mercury Racing brand marketing initiatives, new product launches, and other marketing programs. This role is also responsible for assisting with the management of internal and external communications; customer and consumer engagement, and shows and events.

The role reports to the Brand Manager. Success in this role requires timely delivery of a coordinated set of content development, event marketing, customer and consumer engagement, internal / external communications, and media outreach initiatives. It also requires an ability to manage budgets, prioritize expenditures, continually improve processes, and collaborate across functions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Project Management

  • Gather requirements – explore and identify brand marketing initiatives; new product launches; and other marketing programs from leadership and/or cross-functional partners.

  • Generate initial briefs and ensure alignment with members of brand team or leadership.

  • Build and execute the plan - maintain timelines and resource utilization plan for the portfolio of projects underway.

  • Communicate progress - facilitate identification of risks and opportunities and recommend corrective actions as necessary to increase probability of successful delivery across project portfolio.

  • Develop and cultivate productive, collaborative relationships to identify marketing needs, document requests, and ensure alignment on success factors.

  • Provide project management services cross-functionally as needed.

  • Communications and Public Relations

  • Manage media relations and serve as the primary contact for media outlets requesting information and video from Mercury Racing.

  • Coordinate interviews for the General Manager, Director of Customer Experience, and act as back up spokesperson as needed.

  • Draft press releases, statements to the media, talking points for employees and leadership team, website posts, social media captions, and other external/internal communications materials.

  • Ensure all press releases in AP style

  • Engage both industry and mainstream media for optimized brand exposure

  • Coordinate and manage media events and other special events (“media availabilities”) aimed at generating positive media coverage.

  • Work with broader marketing team to brainstorm social media ideas, create content, and organize content calendar.

  • Ensure all vendors who contribute to brand content creation are meeting deadlines

  • Provide or procure copy writing services as needed including but not limited to press releases, blogs, social media copy, collateral copy and publications copy.

  • Be responsible for editorial reviews including routing for approvals, proofing and editing.

  • Manage internal communications on behalf of the brand and leadership team

  • Work closely with the leadership team and others to craft our internal communication strategy.

  • Write and develop messaging around a variety of topics, including company-wide strategies, announcements, All-Hands presentations, executive talking points, and FAQs.

  • Identify opportunities to share key milestones, business updates, cross-functional projects, diversity/engagement/inclusion programs, and people & culture initiatives with the broader company

  • Ensure consistency of messages across all internal communications channels

  • Customer and Consumer Engagement

  • Gain and use knowledge of Design Thinking methodology to plan and execute customer and end consumer engagement activities

  • Contribute to Mercury Racing’s growth in consumer engagement by offering strategic thinking and leadership in these initiatives

  • As a member of the team, contribute to the overall strategy and planning for these initiatives

  • Support the output of these initiatives – be accountable for tactical plan execution and reporting out results to leadership

  • Shows and Events Support

  • In collaboration with the broader marketing team, manage key Racing brand events, including maintaining the event calendar and communicating event needs to various internal stakeholders and vendors.

  • Optimize field marketing programs and events that align to our integrated campaigns and generate new business.

  • Deliver creative, engaging, world-class, experiences for our user and prospect audiences across all customer segments.

  • Manage the Mercury Racing tour truck schedule and displays; and vendors who support the tour truck.

  • Ensure on-brand presence at events

  • Order, distribute and manage inventory for promotional items and event materials such as pull-up screens and signage

  • Manage event budgets and track expenses.

  • Execute the lead tracking process after events to ensure they are captured in our database and enable prospecting follow ups with them appropriately.

Operations Support and Process Improvement

  • Support the Brand Manager in developing and defining key marketing processes, including printed marketing material development, advertising development, campaign definition and implementation, new product marketing launch, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Minimum 5 years professional experience, 3+ in a marketing or public relations role.

  • Project management experience, including track record of successful project delivery.

  • Strong professional communications experience

  • Experience working with outside resources (agencies, freelancers, consultants)

  • Legacy of accomplishment working with people at all levels to deliver business results.

  • Creative, decisive, collaborative, responsive, able to work independently and take responsibility for decisions and outcomes. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
