Position Summary:

Primary responsibility includes proactive account management to build relationships with customer base and promote sales of all Mercury products, with a goal to achieve organization performance measurements and company goals while offering world class customers service. Specifically, this position will serve as Senior Account Manager for a critical account relationship as well as Intercompany sales. Along with this responsibility, the position will also manage the Government, Angler, Distributor and Retailer Channels from an Inside Sales perspective. This position is ideal for candidates that are successfully able to manage people to their highest potentials, are achievement-oriented and can work effectively under tight deadlines. The ideal candidate also works very well with and can act as a resource with cross-functional internal stakeholders, and understands business directions can be fluid and move fast.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a group of Account Representatives who support all products for their areas of responsibility

  • Oversee development of process improvements and drive the team to efficiencies that lead to superior customer deliverables and relationships

  • Working with the team, be involved in demand planning and sales forecasting in order to maximize accuracy for the organization and the channel volumes for Mercury

  • Oversee the management of channel purchase orders to support the forecast

  • Drive the channel sales activity to achieve maximum sales and market share

  • Build relationship with customers and promote sales of all Mercury products.

  • Coordinate new customer prospects within the specific channels of responsibility, to include upgrades and/or terminations

  • Execute Sales and Marketing programs and services

  • Assist customers with parts/product identification, program level benefits, product availability, and order status for all Mercury products

  • From time to time, support order entry and daily order management of phone, fax, MercNet, EDI transactions (following departmental stated policies)

  • Encourage and use to document up to date customer contact info, communication through sales calls, and follow up activities

  • Monitor and learn market area information (products sold, competition, boat brands in the market, etc)

  • Ownership for resolving issues for stated channel customers with various problem solving when elevated in a quick manner

  • Provide assistance to Sales Directors for stated key account channel customers which can include meeting facilitation, communication as well as tracking various key metrics

  • Understand and become a subject matter expert on the states channel relationships and contracts that exist as to be the go-to source for questions and clarifications, especially as it relates to product supply

  • Direct contact with Marketing, Credit, Operations and Distribution to ensure customer needs are met

  • Acts as a central point of coordination for BDM sales efforts for the stated key account channel customers to include but not limited to dealer meeting support and marketing initiatives

  • May include travel – boats shows, customer visits, sales meetings

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

  • Strong cross-functional team leadership, communication and facilitation skillset

  • Able to manage performance of team members so as to maximize deliverables

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, phone presentation skills, oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency with computer software applications (order entry, word processing, databases and spreadsheets).

  • Ability to independently make accurate decisions and analyze risk.

  • Leadership qualities that drive the team to results while creating a work environment that is desired to be part of

Education and Experience:

6+ Yrs. Experience in Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain or related field

Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Word

Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Related Field
