The Mercury Technical Editor/Writer is responsible for editing various Mercury technical service documents including Operations Manuals, Service Manuals, Installation Manuals and Service Kit Instructions. The Editor must have engine mechanical knowledge to understand technical material written by others. Accuracy, Grammar, Spelling, Consistency and Conformity to established Mercury Marine Publishing Guidelines. To possess these skills within a Content Management System would be a plus.
Advise and assist authors during writing stage
Verify the text and graphics using their own knowledge supplemented by research and consultation with other subject matter experts
Examine the organization, length and tone of complex product content
Edit text for technical consistency, accuracy, grammar and spelling
Performs routine clerical duties assisting the publication of technical documents.
Organizes technical information already gathered for inclusion in a manual
Prepares copy for review by a peer, style editor and manager and makes necessary revisions
Revises existing manuals to conform to engineering and marketing changes
Experience and Skills:
Content Management System (CMS) experience or knowledge
Create grammatically correct literature as assigned
Work with technical experts to assist others
Balance assigned projects and communicate timelines
Mechanical engine knowledge
Knowledge of Mercury electronic controls and systems
Word processing, PDF and software experience
English, Journalism or Editing degree preferred
