Position Summary: Sr. Supplier Quality Technician provides tactical and strategic support to Production, PD&E, and the P&A Businesses by executing quality activities, such as: precision measurements of parts, verification of PPAP layout data, and reporting in an effort to maintain and improve customer satisfaction, eliminate errors and improve efficiency. This position desires CMM programming, and a skill level that will allow the incumbent to be at a “trainer” or “internal consultant” level for programming and GD&T disciplines. As a result, the Supplier Quality Layout Technician is to proactively communicate with the overall Supplier Quality team to ensure that all identified quality issues are resolved and corrective action is taken to prevent reoccurrence.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support Manufacturing and P&A by performing and/or coordinating the measurements required of suspect parts to maintain production goals and service orders

  • Perform necessary CMM programming to ensure the above is realized

  • Document identified discrepant materials to ensure suppliers are notified of the issue and root cause analysis can be completed

  • Develop tools and methods to provide training as necessary

  • Provide analysis of designs/tolerancing as requested

  • Provide interpretation of GD&T callouts to others as required

  • Document materials rejected due to quality issue

  • Verify the materials received correspond to the documentation provided with the shipment

  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards relative to warranty agreements

  • Maintain quality service by following organization standards

  • Manage projects necessary to execute continuous improvement plans in accordance with the commodity strategy

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

  • Intermediate level skills and demonstrated proficiency requirements include:

  • Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint proficiency

  • Accuracy

  • Interpersonal, written and verbal communication

  • Beginner level skills and demonstrated proficiency requirements include:

  • Supplier Development

  • Continuous Improvement

Education and Experience:

  • 5 + years’ experience in a manufacturing, operations, quality engineering environment, required with 2 years’ experience in engine or engine component manufacturing or assembly, preferred

  • ASQ certification as CQT, CMI or higher, preferred

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training with project experience, preferred

  • Associate or BS/BA in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or a closely related business field is preferred

Business Travel Expectations

This position will require occasional day and/or overnight travel by auto or airplane, up to 20%.
