This role will allow you to utilize your past experience in Manufacturing Engineering to improve production, tooling and overall manufacturing capabilities of our facility. You will work with various departments on the manufacturing process and apply your knowledge of lean principles and methods to increase the overall manufacturing productivity of our Life Fitness brands. You will also lead a team on continuous improvement and increase quality, productivity and overall manufacturability.


Lead continuous improvement teams in plant operations to drive improvement in the areas of cost, quality, safety, and delivery.

•Lead manufacturing engineering efforts in support of new product introductions including DFMA feedback to engineering groups, schedule and budget adherence, PFMEA development, and other project deliverables are met via the PACE process.

•Manage key project deliverables including project plans and budgets, make/buy and capacity analyses, labor standards and routings, line/facility layouts, and visual process documentation.

•Drive optimization through capital equipment justification and acquisition and introduction of new technologies into existing processes; explore best practices to expand manufacturing capabilities and strategic competitiveness.

•Ensure that all processes and equipment satisfies the company’s Safety Management System requirements and meets or exceed the recommended safety guidelines and ergonomics.

•Utilize Lean/Six Sigma tools to identify and eliminate waste and reduce process variation. Perform direct and indirect labor analysis, capacity analysis, line balancing, material and WIP flow analysis, and process optimization.

•Design tooling, fixtures, and material handling devices to ensure quality standards are met and manage delivery process including fabrication, installation, and follow-up.

•Implement operational changes as defined through assigned Engineering Change Orders and maintain process conformance with regard to ISO certification and Quality Policy.


•B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

•Seven (7) + years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a vertically integrated operation with metal fabrication and assembly operations.

•Strong project management skills and experience.

•Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to provide technical direction to others and leadership to cross-functional teams.

•Is a self-directed, “hands-on”, problem-solver with the ability to multi-task several projects and able to maintain the high quality and timeliness of deliverables.

•Solid experience and working knowledge of Lean principles / methods including Value Stream Maps, 5S, Kaizen, etc.

•Green Belt certification, Black Belt preferred.

•Must be able to apply root cause analysis and problem solving tools.

•Must be proficient in MS Office, MS Project, AutoCad, and SolidWorks.

  • Must work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires elevation of identifiable factors.

  • Must demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to problems.
