Overview

The individual will be responsible for the mechanical design, development, analysis and release of components and/or sub-systems for cardiovascular and/or strength products from concept through production launch.

Supports current product lines, as assigned, by using general mechanical engineering skills to resolve field, service and manufacturing issues, as required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Follows Life Fitness Mechanical Engineering departmental procedures and design guidelines to complete engineering tasks as assigned.

  • Under the direction of an experienced mechanical engineer/manager, uses SolidWorks to complete CAD model and drawing development for metal and plastic components, working with internal and external suppliers to determine the optimal manufacturing process for each component.

  • Performs engineering analyses, such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), dynamic simulations, design calculations, and tolerance analysis, to prove out the feasibility of component and sub-system designs.

  • Contributes to projects to improve Mechanical Engineering department processes and procedures, as assigned.

Required Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

  • Efficient with 3D CAD software, SolidWorks preferred

  • Basic understanding of Drawing Development

  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred

  • Basic understanding of Bill of Material (BOM) development/management

  • Capable of completing engineering analyses, such as: FEA, Hand calculations

  • Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, such as Teamcenter, preferred

  • Working knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools preferred

  • Basic understanding of Project Management

  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in professional or volunteer organizations

Education

Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience

0-3 years experience as a mechanical engineer in a related field
