Lowe Boats, a leading manufacturer of aluminum fishing boats and pontoons, has an open Buyer position.
Plan and formulate part(s) needs by analyzing MRP screens/reports and requisitions.
Place purchase orders needed to ensure fulfillment of material requirements (Production, Pre-Production, ECN, Service Parts or Indirect/MRO).
Ensure suppliers are on schedule, and expedite as required to facilitate timely deliveries.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Govern material requirements and deliveries for assigned parts/commodities/suppliers and create and/or adjusting PO's accordingly
Establish commitments with suppliers necessary to support daily/weekly demand requirements.
Analyze requirements for the part or commodity for validity from areas with demands (i.e., manufacturing, service, and engineering).
Make adjustments for known capacity or service capabilities. Interact with manufacturing, engineering, other Purchasing personnel, and suppliers to determine constraints in supply.
Make adjustments necessary due to production build forecast changes and ensure suppliers are able to support changes.
Work with suppliers and accounts payable to resolve invoice/payment issues.
Optimize inventory levels by using JIT/lean principles and minimize E&O in a short life cycle environment.
Assist materials team in supplier performance monitoring, improvement, savings, and quoting process.
Responsible for maintaining delivery dates and related information in the system (PO management)
Improve supplier quality levels. Provide timely and detailed communications to the supply base regarding quality, delivery, and warranty issues. This includes the timely resolution of SCAR's, Warranty Claims, Receiving and Invoice issues. Lead and support Lean Six Sigma initiatives that drive improvements in Quality, Delivery and Cost.
Support Engineering Change Processes and New Product Development Initiatives. Review all ECN's to support the effectively of all new parts to be phased in, old parts to be phased out, and part revisions with the goal of minimizing obsolete inventory. Support new tooling requirements, prototypes, PPAP's, pre-production requirements, and production launch timelines. WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO OUR WINNING TEAM: REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, preferred.
3-5 years of procurement, inventory control and part sourcing experience required, 5+ preferred.
Purchasing certification(s), preferred.
MRP, MRO and Kanban experience, required.
Understand and effectively utilize MRP/AS400 scheduling and releasing systems.
Experience in negotiations and problem solving with suppliers, required.
Strong Excel experience, required.
Proficient computer and key boarding skills, required.
Requires the ability to perform problem solving activities, identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options for potential solutions.
Must have the ability to multi-task by balancing multiple projects at any given time in a fast paced environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in a team environment with strong customer service skills.
Green Belt certified, preferred
Must be results driven, self-motivated and accountable in a culture changing environment.
