As a Marine Technician for Boateka, you will be responsible for various engine brand and type (OB/IB/SD) engine services, diagnostics and troubleshooting. You will work closely with our team of mechanics to share diagnostics and solutions building our technical knowledgebase. Direct and detailed communication with our inventory coordinator and your manager are key to order, receive, schedule and install any and all components that have been identified during inspection as needing replacement. Overview

  • Perform basic marine engine service acrossmultiplebrands, such as 100hour and 300 hour recommended service.

  • Responsible formechanicalboatinspection andanunderstanding ofsmallboat mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

  • Marine electrical system inspection,diagnostics,and troubleshooting.

  • Repair or renew marine electrical wiring and components.

  • Identify missing or damaged components for replacement, using the proper parts catalogues(EPCs) tolook uppart numbers.

  • Recordall components(part numbers)missing or in need of replacement and provide the inspection document tothe parts department for orderentry.

  • Properly document any findings during trouble shooting of engines including identified parts,part numbers and work needing to be done to complete the repair.

  • Work following specific job instructions, frequently reading and providing verbal and/or written status of part completion.

  • Handleand applysolvents,hydraulic fluids, oils, lubes, greases,paints, and fuelalong with proper disposal.

  • Recognize and protect precious boat components while performingmechanicalduties.

  • Conduct sea trial of boats for inspection and diagnostic purposes

  • Tow boats to/from boat ramp for sea trial purposes

What does a qualified candidate look like?

  • Experience in performingfullservice on marine outboard engines as well as inboard / outboardengineswithout supervision

  • Knowledgeusingthe diagnostic computer and software for each enginemanufacturer (Mercury G3,Candoo,Diacom, Etc.)

  • Knowledge of marine12-voltsystems, with an emphasis on efficient troubleshooting/ diagnoses

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements could include face respirators, gloves

  • Ability to workan8+ hour shift standing, bending, reaching

  • Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.

  • Hand tools may include standard mechanic tools, drill, or other specialty tools and fixtures

  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlledenvironment

  • Must be able to work efficiently and effectively to achieve daily goals

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, noisy environment

  • Ability to work overtime (planned and unplanned)

  • Mustalways follow all safety and quality standards, including chemical handling standards and PPE (personal protective equipment)

  • Understand and follow verbal and written directions

  • Ability to work with fellow coworkers in close proximity and in a team environment displaying mutual respect

  • Ability to fluently speak, read, understand, and write English

  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred

  • Mercury,Mercruiser, PCM, Volvo PentaYamaha/Honda/Suzukiexperience

  • Willingness to pursue Mercury Certification

  • Captain’s License

Work Schedule

Must have the availability to work from 6:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday – Thursday, with overtime as needed to achieve targets. Brunswick reserves the right to adjust shifts and work times as business needs evolve.   

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
