Overview:

Eclipse Marine is looking for a skilled Lead Technician to join the team at our Seneca dealership! The Lead Technician is the secondary coordinator and primary executor of all service and maintenance repair orders. The Lead Technician is expected to utilize a vast working knowledge of the marine service industry to complete tasks with little to no supervision. The Lead Technician sets the standard for excellence in the shop, and so he/she must be able to demonstrate and operate under high efficiency standards in a fast-paced working environment. The Lead Technician works directly under the supervision of the service manager to ensure all repair orders are being completed on schedule and with quality control and assurance. He/she must be knowledgeable, independent, but also able to collaborate with and lead a team of technicians. He/she must be punctual, determined, and have excellent critical thinking and analytical skills. Finally, the Lead Technician is expected to work in a manner that prioritizes the completion of collectible/billable work while minimizing effort towards internals and non-billable.

What you'll be doing:

  • Repairs and maintains boats and other vessels.

  • Examines repair and installation orders, and vessel, utilizing knowledge based on past experience to determine extent of repairs required or modifications necessary for installation of equipment, accessories, and hardware.

  • Consults directly with supervisor regarding installation or repair problems, sequence of operations, and time required to complete repair or installation.

  • Must have diploma and work towards and/or maintain certifications in the marine technician field.

  • Promote, prioritize, and emphasize the completion of collectable/billable labor repair orders.

  • Maintains safe work environment for entire shop.

  • Inspects final repairs and rigging for any errors.

  • Inspect repaired vessels for cleanliness.

  • Assist technicians in maintaining and enhancing productivity and efficiency.

  • Utilize and encourage company-provided electronic forms, tools, etc.

  • Actively participate in requested feedback between leadership team and service team.

  • Use company email and Microsoft Teams as communication tools.

  • Anything else needed or asked upon.

What does a qualified candidate look like?

  • Proven experience as a service technician in the marine industry.

  • Diploma and/or certifications in Yamaha and Mercury manufactured products.

  • Great work ethic and high initiative to complete tasks with little supervision required.

  • Must provide his/her own basic-use mechanical tools and toolbox. A secure location will be provided to keep toolbox. All special tools will be provided by the company.

  • Self-driven to problem solve and critically think often including research.

  • Team player with willingness to lead, coach, and assist others.

  • Ability to multi-task efficiently.

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment.

  • Ability to comfortably work in confined spaces.

  • Ability to safely bend, stoop, and climb ladders on a daily basis.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to use a computer for basic everyday tasks.

  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and customers using email, telephone, and text messaging.

  • Ability to read and write professional notes summarizing work completed.

  • Valid driver's license with MVR meeting company standards and clean background/drug screening
