A Woodworker performs a wide variety of fabrication tasks to include building cabinetry, upholstering, assembling, fitting, cutting material, routing and installing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs basic wood working or rough carpentry work on small or large boats.
May involve some wood cutting, although frequently wood is precut by saw operators in the mill.
Frequently involves use of staples and staple guns in assembly of rough wood structures to be covered with other materials (fiberglass, upholstery).
Includes mill assembly and lamination woodworking positions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience in basic or rough carpentry
Ability to read and understand production schedule and blueprints
Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment, using protective clothing and respirator if needed
Requires ability to use a wide variety of hand tools, powered and manual
Knowledge of hazardous chemical handling and disposal
Working knowledge of procedures , instructions, and documents as it relates to the quality system Additional Requirements:
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Must be able to adapt to changing requirements in a positive and proactive way
Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels within the organization
Must be flexible to work extended hours to support the requirements of the business. Safety Requirements:
Must possess the desire and ambition to work safely at all times and report all hazards to their Supervisor immediately
Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to: safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.
Must be able to understand and complete the OSHA questionnaire, pass spirometer test and physically wear a respirator where required
Must be able to physically perform the requirements of the job, including lifting, bending, climbing stairs, standing, etc. with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to understand all safety related document and worksite rules and practices, equipment operating instructions, documented safety management systems, and health and safety requirements, including the General Safety Rules and Individual Safety Commitment.
